3- Some knowledge. I had previously used GIS software and knew what kinds of data could be found there, but I had no previous experience in field data collection or the equipment associated with it.
2) Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic (1- I don’t really know enough to talk about the topic, 2- I know enough to explain what I did, 3-I know enough to repeat what I did, 4-I know enough to teach someone else, 5- I am an expert)
3-I know enough to repeat what I did. I researched equipment possibilities online to learn about accuracy and capabilities of them and could easily report the process of planning a GIS.
3) Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn (1-Strongly Disagree, 2-Disagree, 3-No real opinion, 4-Agree, 5-Strongly Agree)
4-Agree. Actual field work was a learning experience, I do wish that survey GPS equipment was more affordable so there would have been more units to provide ample opportunity to use on.

4-A good amount of knowledge. I have previous experience with GIS software, however most was step by step instruction and compiling data to create an attribute table was a new experience.

4-I know enough to teach someone else. This was a fun activity that was not too technical or complicated, just time consuming.
3) Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn (1-Strongly Disagree, 2-Disagree, 3-No real opinion, 4-Agree, 5-Strongly Agree)
4-Agree. My first experience with field data collection was a very good learning experience.
What type of learning strategies would make this activity even better?
I think it was good the way it was, there was not too much instruction making it easier to learn by doing.
Field Activity 4

1- No knowledge at all. I was wondering what I was about to do while Dr. Hupy was introducing the lab.
2) Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic (1- I don’t really know enough to talk about the topic, 2- I know enough to explain what I did, 3-I know enough to repeat what I did, 4-I know enough to teach someone else, 5- I am an expert)
4- Once I got outside and saw what a stream-box was and had learned what we were supposed to do with it, it was pretty self explanatory.

5-Strongly Agree; building a terrain to survey enabled a comprehensive survey in a straight forward situation.
What type of learning strategies would make this activity even better?
It could perhaps help to provide an introduction to the lab before meeting to do the lab, but no one in my group had done this before and we were able to conduct a successful survey with little knowledge.

5-Strongly Agree; Researching for more information and experimenting with each interpolation method helped me grasp the concept of interpolation quite well.

5-Strongly Agree; It was certainly a learning experience. Even though we got lost and failed to locate most of our markers, the experience improved my chances of success in another navigation activity.

5-Strongly Agree. This is a good addition to the first Arc Collector activity. Having used the app previously really helped in the creation of my own interactive map.
